Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, we offer both in-person and online lessons through Zoom. Our Zoom lessons are very interactive and include many digital board games to play that we will play against the client. These board games will directly reinforce the learning that has taken place.


Both Haley and myself are trained using the Sounds Write programme as well as completing additional courses. We typically use the Sounds Write scope and sequence and aspects from IDEAL/The code. We are constantly adjusting to meet our student's needs


We need to complete a phonological awareness assessment in order to clearly determine the areas of need. We will directly plan lessons derived from this data. The cost of the assessment is $120.


Nikki, Haley and Hannah's lessons are during school hours.

Julie's lessons are after school hours or on Saturday morning.

Yes. We have a special discounted rate for siblings that attend lessons with us. Please contact us for more information.


YES! We would absolutely love you to sit in on the lessons. This is a fantastic way for you to observe what your child is learning and also to be able to easily implement the follow up activities with confidence.


YES! 


Each lesson lasts for approximately 40-45 minutes and is tailored exactly to meet your child's needs. Each lesson costs $85 or alternatively you can pre-purchase six lessons at a discounted price of $480.


Terms & Conditions

Thank you for choosing Just Literacy. Please read the following terms and conditions carefully, as they outline your rights and responsibilities when engaging our services.


1. Changes to Our Conditions

Just Literacy reserves the right to amend our hours, services, tutors, facilities, fees, or these terms. If any changes occur, we will notify you in advance.


2. Student Participation

Payment of lesson fees entitles your child ("the Student") to attend the lessons they are enrolled in. If you breach this Agreement or our rules, lessons may be suspended or cancelled.


3. Changes to Your Situation

Please notify us of any updates that may affect your child’s participation in lessons (e.g. health, well-being, contact information).


4. Use of Facilities and Equipment

You and the Student must use all Just Literacy equipment and facilities appropriately and respectfully.

Damage: You are responsible for any damage to our property caused by you or your child, whether accidental or intentional.


5. Cancellations by Just Literacy

We reserve the right to cancel this Agreement without notice if behaviour is deemed inappropriate or unsafe. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Non-payment of fees
  • Threatening or harassing staff or students
  • Behaviour that endangers safety
  • Damage to equipment or facilities
  • Use of illegal substances

6. Session Changes, Absences & Notice Period

  • Absences: Each student is allowed one free absence per term. If a student misses two or more sessions, you will be invoiced accordingly (see table below).
  • Payment Options:
    • Pay-per-session
    • Pre-pay for a discounted block of six lessons
  • Lesson Times: Lessons will occur weekly at an agreed time. A reminder will be sent 24 hours prior.
  • Planned Absences: Notify us at the beginning of the term of any known absences (e.g. school camp or holidays) to avoid being charged.
  • Major Illness: In the case of surgery or extended illness, lessons can be ‘banked’ and rescheduled by mutual agreement.
  • Finishing Up Lessons: If you plan to finish lessons, we require two weeks’ written notice. This ensures we can support a smooth transition and offer the space to another student.

Tutor Absences: If your tutor is unavailable due to illness:

  • The session can be rescheduled within 7 days, or
  • You may skip the session and receive a credit (if prepaid)

7. Fees & Payment

Lesson Rates (One-on-One Tuition):


  • $85 per session (45 minutes)
  • $480 for 6 pre-paid sessions (discounted)

Assessment & Report (New Clients):

  • $120 one-time fee
    This mandatory assessment provides a detailed overview of your child's strengths and learning needs.

Payment Terms:

  • Fees are due before or on the day of each lesson (unless prior arrangements are made with the Director)
  • Bank Transfer is the accepted payment method

Late/Non-Payment:

  • A $40 late fee will apply for overdue payments
  • If payment remains outstanding, the next lesson will be cancelled
  • Ongoing non-payment may result in all future sessions being cancelled and reallocated to students on our waitlist


8. Photography Consent

Photos of students and their work may be used for training, marketing, and promotional purposes.
To opt out, please notify us in writing via email.


9. Acknowledgement & Acceptance

By enrolling and attending any session (including assessments) at Just Literacy, you confirm that:

  • You have read and understood these terms and conditions
  • You accept and agree to be bound by them
